Happy 4th of July!
Happy July 4th everyone. I realize that its been quite a while since I last posted to this site but with all of the stress and things to be done regarding our recent house move I simply didn’t have the time to worry about the website. For those of you who have been patiently awaiting my return I apologize for the extended delay and hope that this marks my return to regular posting.
Yesterday was July 4th and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. The sun was out and the temperature was 80 degrees. The weather simply could not have gotten any better. As has become our tradition, we spent several hours in the afternoon at Aunt Jackie’s fabulous swimming pool with Kelly and Mike and their neighbors.
The kids had a great time. Libby is finally comfortable with the water and Jack is also becoming an old water pro. Will starting out very scared and upset about the water but after 30 minutes of clinging to Daddy in the water he finally started to loosen up and eventually started enjoying the water so much he didn’t want to leave in the end. The kids response to the water is a good sign that a vacation to Florida next summer may not be such a bad idea after all.
After a few hours at the pool we continued the tradition and head to Kelly and Mike’s house for some BBQ and viewing of Jefferson County’s best amateur fireworks display. As always Mike’s BBQ chicken was outstanding and even Kate enjoyed it despite her disdain of BBQ chicken. And then as the sun set we moved to the front yard to watch Kelly and Mike’s neighborhood come alive with fireworks. Since firewords are legal in their part of the county it seems that just about every other neighbor buys several hundred dollars worth and sets them off for everyone to see. It’s quite the spectacle.
The kids enjoyed the “pa-chumers” (as will calls them) despite the fact that the neighborhood quickly transformed itself into something that I can only imagine resembles an urban war scene. Finally after an hour of visual and olfactory (lots of sulfur) stimulation we loaded the kids into the Mighty Green Yak and headed home. And of course, within 3 minutes all the kids (minus Libby) were fast asleep.
It was a wonderful day for all of us and we couldn’t have asked for a better July 4th holiday.
Here are a few photos from our time at the pool for your viewing enjoyment. ( click here)
